As a child I was taught Trombone and Piano one-to-one, the "traditional way" and once I'd learned, had a wonderful time playing in bands and orchestras at school and around Manchester. The key here being "once I'd learned" as I found the process of concentrating on technique all the time quite laborious and pretty dull. And in those days my choices of how to spend my spare time didn't include surfing the Internet and video games!
My Eureka moment was only when I started on the drums and a couple of friends bought guitars. We started playing the songs we loved, learned as we went along and for the first time I really enjoyed the learning process itself. What would have been great is if we'd had some people just a bit older an more experienced who could teach us what we wanted to learn alongside some of the essential stuff we needed to learn.
Rock Out Music Schools are an opportunity for children aged 7 and up (yes adults too) to learn an instrument in a structured way while playing with other musicians every week.
We teach Guitar, Drums, Bass, Keyboards and Vocals in weekly lessons lasting 1 hour. The first 45 minutes you're learning with a tutor working through our course material and for the last 15 minutes everybody comes together for a jam session of 3 or 4 songs.
You'll learn to read and understand music and progress from a complete beginner to a competent, confident performer as we have several live events during the year for you to take part it.
Not learning a musical instrument is one of the things most people regret later on in life. So come and join us for music lessons like no other.
